Having Fun with Food – 4 ways to make food appealing to toddlers

Toddlers often go through phases with foods, ranging from trying new foods to completely refusing to eat certain foods. Some may not eat certain foods at home but they will eat the same food at their friend’s house or in a more social environment. The important thing to remember is to keep offering foods that they like and those that they don’t like, without forcing them to eat. One idea is to change the look of a food and offer it in a different way.

1 – Use a cookie cutter to cut quesadillas, sandwiches, fruit, etc. into different shapes

2- Use food picks (found at a grocery store in the kitchen area) so toddlers can pick up foods in a fun new way

3- Let them use their fingers to make food fun and let them eat it the way they want

4- Offer a range of colors and focus on each color on the plate instead of the type of food they are eating

If your child has become pickier lately and trying different ways to serve dinner can be tiring, but watching them explore their food can be very rewarding.
