Moving your body means you are being active, and this is important to keep your bones, muscles and mind healthy. Kids need to be active for 60 minutes a day. This includes fun activities like swimming, jumping, playing sports, gymnastics and playing on the playground. Try all of these activities and include your friends and family for more fun.

Being active has many health benefits and can even help you live longer.

Kids should get at least 60 minutes (1 hour) or physical activity per day.

There are 3 main types of physical activity:

  1. Aerobic – This includes activities like walking, running or riding a bike
  2. Muscle Strengthening – Activities like gymnastics, tug of war or climbing
  3. Bone Strengthening – Activities like jump rope, running and basketball

Any time is a good time to be active. Being active throughout the day is a great way to reach the goal of 60 minutes per day.

Regular physical activity help keeps muscles and bones strong. Being active can even help you sleep better, improve your mood and help you learn and think.

Moderate activity makes your heart beat faster. Moderate activities include:

  • Walking
  • Dancing
  • Swimming
  • Playing on playground equipment

Vigorous physical activity makes you breath harder and makes your heart beat even faster. Vigorous activities include;

  • Running
  • Fast Biking
  • Sports or Active Games
  • Jumping Rope
